Security Guard (Refresher)

This qualification is intended for learners who already hold an SIA Security Officer licence and seeking to renew their licence after April 1st 2025.

This course will equip you with the knowledge and regulations required to continue working as a Security Guard.

By choosing this course you can maintain your SIA license and enhance your professional capabilities in the private security industry.

Learners must hold a full Level 2 Security Guard qualification issued on or after April 1st 2021, or hold an older qualification supported by a 'Top up' qualification to achieve equivalency.

Unfortunately, learners who hold a qualification issued prior to April 1st 2021 and have not completed a 'Top up' qualification are not eligible to complete this 'Refresher' qualification and are required to take the full Level 2 Security Guard course again.

Learners who are successful in achieving this qualification will become eligible to apply for an SIA licence to practice within the private security industry in the United Kingdom, supporting a role in the workplace.

It is important to remember this course is for learners who already hold a Security Guard qualification and must complete the ‘Refresher’ qualification to support relicensing, available from the 1st of October 2024.

For this qualification to be recognised by the SIA licencing system, one of the following scenarios must be applicable:

The learner has a valid SIA Security Officer qualification issued on or after April 1st 2021.
The learner has a valid SIA Security Officer qualification issued before April 1st 2021 and is in

possession of an SIA Security Officer (Top Up) qualification
A recognised Level 2 First Aid qualification.

If non of the above are applicable, or it has been longer than 3 years since the learner’s SIA licence has expired, then the learner is required to complete the full Security Officer, and first aid qualifications.
