Mobilisation and Return
to Work Policy

1. Purpose
​
This policy outlines the approach of James Consulting Training Ltd to supporting employees who are Reservists mobilised for full-time military service. We are committed to providing clear guidance on mobilisation, leave, financial arrangements, and reintegration upon return to work, in line with the Reserve Forces (Safeguard of Employment) Act 1985.

2. Scope
​
This policy applies to all employees of James Consulting Training Ltd who are serving members of:

The Army Reserve
-
The Royal Naval Reserve
-
The Royal Marines Reserve
-
The Royal Auxiliary Air Force
​
and are subject to compulsory or voluntary mobilisation by the Ministry of Defence.
​
3. Our Commitment
​
James Consulting Training Ltd will:
​

Support employees during the mobilisation process
-
Protect their employment rights
-
Assist with reintegration upon return
-
Ensure no employee is disadvantaged as a result of fulfilling their military duty
​
4. Mobilisation Notification
​
Employees must notify their line manager and HR as soon as they are aware of impending mobilisation, providing a call-out notice or MOD documentation where possible.

We will respond by:

Confirming agreed leave dates and cover arrangements

Issuing a letter outlining the terms of leave and the employee’s rights
-
Assisting with MOD paperwork if required
​
5. Leave During Mobilisation
​

Mobilised Reservists will be granted unpaid leave of absence for the entire duration of their military service.

The MOD will assume responsibility for pay and benefits during this time, including:

Service pay
-
Pension contributions
-
Medical and welfare support
-

Company benefits such as private healthcare or bonuses may be paused and resumed upon return unless otherwise agreed.

6. Maintaining Contact During Mobilisation

James Consulting Training Ltd will maintain appropriate communication with the Reservist during mobilisation, respecting operational security and personal welfare.

This may include:

Quarterly email updates
-
Access to key organisational communications
-
A named HR point of contact for family liaison if requested

7. Return to Work
​
Upon return, the Reservist has the legal right to be re-employed in their previous role (or suitable alternative) on terms no less favourable than before mobilisation.

James Consulting Training Ltd will:
​

Conduct a Return-to-Work Meeting with HR and the line manager
-
Reintroduce the Reservist to business updates, systems, and colleagues
-
Offer refresher training or re-induction if necessary
-
Provide access to our Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) or mental health support
​
8. Notice of Return
​
Reservists are expected to give as much notice as possible, ideally 30 days, of their demobilisation date. This allows us to plan for reintegration and team support.
​
9. Line Manager Responsibilities
​
Line managers must:

Support pre-deployment planning
-
Ensure appropriate handovers
-
Maintain communication as agreed
-
Assist with return-to-work planning and performance review
​
10. Review and Monitoring
​
This policy will be reviewed annually and updated in accordance with MOD guidance or changes to reservist employment legislation.
