Veterans and Service Leavers Support Policy

1. Purpose
​
This policy outlines our commitment to supporting veterans and Service leavers as they transition from military to civilian employment. James Consulting Training Ltd recognises the skills, experience, and values that ex-Forces personnel bring to the workplace and actively encourages applications from this community.

2. Scope
​
This policy applies to all current and potential employees who have served in the Royal Navy, British Army, Royal Air Force, Royal Marines, or any Reserve forces.
3. Our Commitment

As a signatory of the Armed Forces Covenant and supporter of the Employer Recognition Scheme, James Consulting Training Ltd commits to:

4. Recruitment and Fair Access

To ensure fair access to employment opportunities:

Where possible, we will provide a guaranteed interview scheme to veterans who meet the essential criteria for a role.

We recognise and value military qualifications and experience where they are relevant to the job role.

We work with organisations such as the Career Transition Partnership (CTP), RFEA, and Officers’ Associationto attract and support veteran applicants.
5. Support During Employment

Once employed, veterans will benefit from:

A tailored onboarding and induction programme with awareness of the transition from military to civilian culture.

Access to an internal mentor or buddy, ideally someone with military experience.

Support through our Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) and mental wellbeing resources.

Flexible working options where appropriate, particularly for those adjusting to life after service.
6. Training and Development

Identify any gaps in civilian-recognised qualifications and support veterans in accessing relevant training.

Encourage veterans to apply for promotion and personal development opportunities.

Help translate military experience into competencies recognised within our business.
7. Internal Awareness and Culture

To foster an inclusive environment, we will:

Promote awareness of this policy among all employees and line managers.

Celebrate Armed Forces Day, Remembrance events, and other military-related campaigns.

Encourage employees with military backgrounds to share their experiences and contribute to organisational learning.
8. Monitoring and Review

We will monitor:

The number of veteran applicants, interviews, and hires where data is voluntarily disclosed.

Feedback from veterans on their experience of applying for and working with us.
This policy will be reviewed annually and updated in line with best practices and MOD guidance.
