Military Community Engagement And
Awareness Policy

1. Purpose
This policy outlines how James Consulting Training Ltd engages with and promotes awareness of the UK Armed Forces community through workplace education, events, partnerships, and public recognition. It reflects our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant and reinforces our forces-friendly culture internally and externally.
2. Scope
This policy applies to all staff, contractors, partners, and clients of James Consulting Training Ltd. It supports current and former members of the Armed Forces and their families, and promotes military values and awareness in the workplace.
3. Our Commitment
We are committed to:

Recognising and celebrating the contribution of the Armed Forces community

Promoting internal understanding of military life, culture, and transferable skills

Engaging with local and national initiatives that support Defence personnel and their families
4. Internal Awareness and Education
James Consulting Training Ltd will:

Include a section on our Armed Forces Covenant pledge during employee onboarding

Share quarterly updates, blogs, or stories highlighting our veteran, reservist, or CFAV staff

Distribute educational resources (e.g. terminology guides, FAQs, service structure summaries) to improve understanding among staff

Provide Armed Forces awareness training to line managers
5. Key Dates and Recognition
We will mark and support:

Armed Forces Day (June)

Reserves Day

Remembrance Day (11 November)

Veterans’ Week (where applicable)

Local military events or anniversaries
This may include internal communications, events, social media campaigns, and guest speakers.
6. Community Engagement
We aim to:

Partner with local Armed Forces charities, cadet units, or veteran associations

Encourage employee volunteering for military-related causes (e.g. SSAFA, Royal British Legion)

Support cadet training, career days, or mentoring schemes

Promote Armed Forces recruitment and career pathways through local schools, events, or job fairs
7. Communications and Branding
Where appropriate, we will:

Publicly display the Armed Forces Covenant logo and ERS award on our website, premises, email signatures, and promotional materials

Include Armed Forces community commitments in client and partner presentations

Share success stories from military-connected employees in newsletters and on social media
8. Monitoring and Evaluation
We will:

Collect informal feedback on Armed Forces-related events and awareness

Track participation and engagement in key dates and initiatives

Review this policy annually to reflect current MOD and RFCA guidance
