Flexible Workign For Our Armed Forces Community

Version: 1.0

1. Purpose

This policy outlines James Consulting Training Ltd’s commitment to supporting flexible working arrangements for members of the Armed Forces community, including Reservists, Veterans, CFAVs, and spouses/partners of Service personnel. We aim to create an inclusive, adaptable, and supportive working environment that recognises the demands and commitments associated with military life.

James Consulting Training Ltd supports a flexible workforce and will:

  • Provide reasonable adjustments to working patterns for Armed Forces-related responsibilities

  • Support hybrid or remote working (where roles permit)

  • Encourage informal flexible arrangements (e.g. shift swaps, adjusted start/end times)

  • Promote open dialogue between employees and line managers to address personal or family needs related to military service.

4. Types of Flexible Arrangements Supported

Employees covered by this policy may request:

  • Adjusted working hours to attend training, care for children during deployments, or attend military events

  • Compressed hours or reduced days for those managing dual commitments

  • Career breaks or sabbaticals, especially for those rejoining family post-deployment

  • Temporary flexibility during major events (e.g. annual camp, mobilisations, medical boards)

All requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis with due regard to operational needs.

5. How to Request Flexibility

Employees should:

  1. Speak with their line manager informally to explore options

  2. Follow the company’s standard Flexible Working Procedure if the request involves contractual changes

  3. Provide reasonable notice where Armed Forces responsibilities are scheduled or predictable.
